When the clients walked me through their new home, it was clear we had a long list of projects ahead. The house was the epitome of a 1990s
new-build—complete with bulkheads, small but overly ornate moldings, and beige tile at every turn. Our mission was to open up the spaces where possible and introduce a modern, cohesive style throughout.

At the top of the list was a complete kitchen overhaul. Opening up the layout allowed us to bring in dramatic black cabinets, finished with a subtle oak texture for warmth. To balance the bold perimeter, we opted for natural-toned cabinets on the island, creating a striking yet inviting focal point. The result is a kitchen that’s not only visually stunning but also highly functional.

We carried this high-contrast aesthetic throughout the first floor. The entryway was updated with black marble-look hexagonal tile, setting a sophisticated tone from the moment you step inside. The dramatic staircase was painted black and paired with a new chandelier—simple yet sculptural. One of the most special touches came from the client’s father, who crafted a custom dining table we designed together. It’s truly perfect for the space.

The primary bathroom was another major transformation. Its original layout was awkward and lacked privacy, so we reimagined the footprint. The redesign features abundant storage, a double vanity, a luxurious soaker tub, a spacious shower (complete with a shaving ledge), and a private toilet room. Oak cabinetry introduces a calming warmth, while geometric cement tile adds a modern, textural edge. The balance between natural and contemporary elements creates a spa-like retreat.

Nearly every corner of the house was refreshed, with a consistent ow of style that makes this home a true sanctuary for a growing family. Since completing the main renovations, we’ve tackled their mudroom and
are now gearing up to design their daughter’s brand-new big-girl room!

We keep finding more ways to work together, and the home just keeps getting better and better.
